Brainspotting is a brain and body-based approach to healing. It works by using the client’s visual field to locate what’s known as “brainspots.” By focusing on these brainspots clients can move past the logical, thinking parts of the brain to access the deeper part of the brain where unprocessed trauma and emotional distress are located. In doing so, we tap into the brain and body’s natural healing ability. Brainspotting is effective for a wide variety of emotional and somatic conditions and is particularly effective with trauma-based situations, helping to identify and heal underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety, depression, and other behavioral conditions. It can also be used with performance and creativity enhancement.
